Pretty and dainty vintage Nippon mayonnaise bowl with three feet, under plate, and a delicate pattern of hand painted pink roses and gold floral elements.
This is really a lovely piece, and I have found the three footed mayonnaise bowl and plate of this shape listed in 1916 catalog, so this little gem could be 100 years old (and a genuine antique!). It would have originally had a ladle, so sad that they often got broken or lost in such a long life time. The painting here is very good, and the little roses are adorable. This would make a fine addition to your Nippon collection.
China marked 'Nippon' was made between 1891 and 1921 in Japan, often by what would become the Noritake company, and exported by the Morimura Brothers.
CONDITION: Excellent with no cracks, nicks or chips.
SIZE: Bowl is 2 inches high approx, and 4 1/2 inches wide. Plate is 5 1/4 inches wide.
