This is a lovely Alfred Meakin trio of dishes: teacup, saucers and cake or side plate. The pattern is either "Raymond" or "Royal Marigold", and is a pretty scattering of Art Deco marigolds (but they look like primroses to me!) ornamenting the border of the pieces. The base color is a creamy custard yellow. Perfect little tea trio for your tea setting, or collection.
I have seen pieces of this with marks 'Raymond' (the pattern name) and 'Royal Marigold' and both, but this set dates from post-war by its marking which just reads "Alfred Meakin, England" with a crown. The pattern, however, was a favorite, and was produced over a fairly long period, and was first introduced in the thirties.
Alfred Meakin (Tunstall) Ltd was founded in 1875 in Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent, the famous Potteries district of England. In 1976 it was acquired by Myott.
CONDITION: This set is in good condition with no cracks, chips, or nicks. It is, however, scuffed (particularly on the plate) from use.
SIZE: The cup is 3 inches high, and 3 1/4 inches wide. The saucer is 5 5/8 wide and the plate is 7 inches wide.
