His Children's Children by Arthur Train, published in 1923, and Illustrated by Charles D Mitchell
Arthur Train: Train was the former assistant district attorney in New York City. His interactions with clients, together with his experiences in the courtroom, provided the material for the more than 250 short stories and novels he would write during his lifetime.
This vintage book still has good reviews on Amazon! From one of the reviews: We follow three generations of the Mayne family through the year 1921-22. The 81-year-old patriarch reminisces about his rough beginnings in post-Civil War railroading, son Rufus rides rough waters as a wealthy financier, and his wife and three daughters muddle through their New York high society life. Parallels to today -- and clearly the seeds *of* today -- are inescapable: parents who pursue wealth, material goods and success; neglected children who run wild, then seek healing in drugs and cults.
CONDITION: Lovely second edition published by Grossett & Dunlap in good condition with a good condition dust jacket. There is some fraying but no major tears.
