Very attractive brown transferware vegetable serving bowl from W.H. Grindley, an English pottery from Stoke-on-Trent what produced excellent earthenware and ironstone china mostly for export. This dish is very their 'Trellis' service, and the design is very nice with a sort of lattice or trellis pattern behind a pretty tulip floral design. The color is very nice, like a sepia tone, giving it an antique feel. The mark on the back, which is also very attractive, indicates that this bowl was made between 1934 and 1954. Grindley Trellis is a popular pattern, but I haven't found any other 9 inch oval vegetable bowls before.
CONDITION: Very good with no chips, cracks, or nicks. However the bowl has seen frequent use in its history and has scuffing in the center of the bowl, no doubt where utensils scratched against the surface.
SIZE: 9 inches long, 7 inches wide, and about 2 1/2 inches deep.
