Great to have, or great to wear with vintage style! These gold fill antique eyeglasses are in great shape, and include their original case. They are marked on the bridge and on the temples (side pieces). They have curved temples, also known as riding temples, because they curl around the ear. These are clearly marked GF for gold fill, as well as Ful-Vue. This style where the temples are located at the top of the lens (rather than the middle with older spectacles) was all the rage when it came out! It was supposed to give a clearer line of sight, and look more attractive on the face. It was introduced in the beginning of the 1930s. Also by this time nose pads were the vogue. This pair must be early in the thirties because it still has the curved temple which was going out of favor by this time. The frames are in good shape, just with a little bending, but I believe they could be put back in shape, or even worn as they are, as it's only in the temples and doesn't detract from their comfort. The frame is also with a lovely pattern. There are no lens, but this just makes it easier to fit them to your own prescription.
The case is also in decent condition, it has a bit of wear and the fabric coating is frayed on the edges. The dark brown velvet liner is thin in spots. The outside of the case is embellished in gold lettering: "Rowe's Optical Dept., 724 Simpson Ave. Hoquiam,Dr. F.B. Rowe, Optometrist.
Great way to make a real statement if you get them fit with your prescription! These are adult size, I tried them on.
Great medical collectible too.
