Stunning art pottery small jug or creamer made by H & K Tunstall (Hollinshead & Kirkham) of Unicorn Pottery in Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent. H & K was a run of the mill maker of conservative dinnerware until they hit a slump between the wars, and brought in designer Harold Growcott on board. Growcott than created a set of hand painted patterns (14 in all) that has been fondly nicknamed "The Delicious Dozen" that rival more famous Moorcroft pottery for their color and vibrancy.
This is hand painted "Viola" and it is typical of the Delicious Dozen in that it features a lovely Art Deco floral motif of violas against an abstract hand painted ground.
CONDITION: The condition of this Viola creamer is excellent. There are no chips, nicks, cracks or scratches. The color is vibrant. The glaze is crazed, but that is typical of this kind of pottery.
SIZE: About 3 1/2 inches tall, and 4 inches from spout to handle.
