A very rare German translation of the Tao Te Ching of Tao Tzu from 1919. It was translated by Richard Wilhelm, a theological student, into German, maybe in 1911. This beautiful edition is entitled "Laotse Vom Sinn Und Leben" on the dustjacket and cover, and on the title page reads: "Laotse Tao Te King - Das Buch Des Alten Vom Sinn Und Leben"
Publisher: Eugen Diederichs, Jena (1919). This is an extraordinary looking book, though I do not read German. It is in its original dust jacket, and is beautifully printed, with rice paper insert, and I believe an octavo. Designed by graphic designer FH Ernst Schneidler.
CONDITION: Very good to excellent. It has the original DJ, though there is some chipping and tearing evident, but in pretty good condition nonetheless considering the age, and the rarity of still having the dust jacket.
SIZE: 6 inches by 8 1/2 inches.
