This cup is really pretty and refined with a lovely graduated shading of the pink around the rim and into the interior of the cup, with the handle in a light pistachio green that is also graduated from the saucer and the bottom of the cup. The motif is wild roses in pink, yellow, and purple. The cup shape also has a fluted rim, and the handle is very delicate.
This cup and saucer was made in the late forties by Sampson Smith Ltd. of Stoke-on-Trent in the Potteries, the district in England famous for making earthenware and English bone china. The mark that Sampson Smith when this cup was made was their Old Royal mark, and with the words "Bone China" dates the cup to after 1945. The pottery closed in 1963.

SIZE: The saucer is 5 1/2 inches wide and the cup is 2 3/4 inches tall.
