Wonderful little flute sherbet with ruffled rim in green carnival glass. The iridescence is a vivid orange or marigold and it is only in the inside of the cup. The stem is green, and if you view the iridescence from the outside you get a stunning play of color. This is Northwood Flute (and you can see the little 'N' mark in the center of the bowl) and is quite rare.
Carnival glass was originally pressed and iridized glass produced in the US between 1905 and 1950. Iridization was a relatively inexpensive process and thus Carnival glass was cheap for the time - and mass produced, even given away at carnivals. However it was the last mass produced glass that was hand formed in the USA, and its beauty is unparalleled today.
