Super nice depression glass teacup and saucer made by Macbeth Evans. This is their famous 'Petalware' which came in a number of different hand painted patterns or plain. This example is plain. The color of this glass is a white colored opal milk glass and was named "Monax". Macbeth Evans white or cream colored glass was an attempt to mimic the look of the more expensive porcelain or bone china service, but use lower costing glass. There is definitely more translucence though, which adds a nice color dimension to it.
It was first made in the early thirties, but it is possible this pattern was still made as late as the fifties. The photos don't do it justice.
CONDITION: This set is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or nicks. There is light scuffing/scratching from use over the years.
SIZE: The cup is 2 3/4 inches tall, and the saucer is 6 inches wide.
