Adorable tiny tea set, marked "Made in Occupied Japan" - this is a complete miniature tea set that includes tray, tea pot, two teacups, a creamer and sugar. The lids are removable from the sugar and the teapot, and it's pale pink with little blue flowers. This is really charming for a doll's house, kid's tea party, or for display. The tray has a little label that reads "Souvenir of West Virginia".
Pieces of china imported from Japan with the words "Occupied Japan" indicate that the item was imported between 1945 and 1952 - when the Allies occupied Japan after WWII. American import law required all imported china be marked with the country of origin, and during this period 50% must be marked "Occupied Japan". Occupied Japan ceramics and other items are very collectible.
CONDITION: Very good, no nicks, cracks, or chips.
The tray is about 5 inches long.
