This is a very pretty floral teacup and saucer from Desco of Japan. It features an airy delicate pattern with touches of color. The handle and rim are embellished with gold trim. The bottom of the cup and the saucer read: "Desco, Made in Occupied Japan".
Pieces of china imported from Japan with the words "Occupied Japan" indicate that the item was imported between 1945 and 1952 - when the Allies occupied Japan after WWII. American import law required all imported china be marked with the country of origin, and during this period 50% must be marked "Occupied Japan". Occupied Japan ceramics and other items are very collectible.
CONDITION: Excellent with no chips, nicks, scratches or scratches.
SIZE: The teacup is about 2 1/4 inches tall, and the saucer measures 5 1/4 inches wide.
