Lovely little demitasse and saucer by Paragon English bone china with a charming floral motif against the white of the bone china, with a pink exterior and gold embellishments. The quality of Paragon is obvious by the hues and the lovely silky feel of this espresso cup under the fingertips.
The Paragon Warrant story: Queen Mary and other members of the royal family favored Paragon's lovely patterns for themselves and as gifts, and in April 1933 granted them a Royal Warrant. This is a royal favor for businesses that supply the Royal Family, and is a great boon for said businesses. This cup has a double Royal Warrant, one for H.M. The Queen (Queen Elizabeth, the current Queen's mum) and one for Queen Mary, the original Royal Warrant. Later they received one from Queen Elizabeth II. Altogether Paragon received 4 Royal Warrants, as well as several Royal commissions.
Paragon operated from 1919 to 1960, though their history stretches back to 1897 when they were the Star China Co. The sixties saw the company absorbed into other china companies.
CONDITION: Excellent with no nicks, chips, cracks. Some crazing in the glaze of the saucer.
SIZE: The cup is 1 3/4 inches tall and the saucer is 4 1/4 inches wide.
