Chintz small sweetmeat dish or condiment bowl with gold trim from the master pottery of English Chintz: Grimwades Ltd. of Stoke-on-Trent with the trademark "Royal Winton". Royal Winton was founded in 1885 by Leonard and Sydney Grimwades. They earned their 'royal' name in 1913 when they were visited by the King and Queen. Their innovations and designs made them leaders in their business. This pattern "Marguerite" was an early popular chintz pattern introduced in the twenties, based on a needlework design by Leonard's wife.
English Chintz is an all over pattern of flowers that was hugely popular from the twenties to the fifties. This particular version of Royal Winton Marguerite would have been made in the fifties according to the style of the back stamp.
CONDITION: Excellent with no chips, cracks, or nicks. There is normal crazing in the glaze however.
