A delightful pair of vintage silhouette pictures on glass. This was a popular style of gift and wall decor from the twenties through the fifties - the silhouettes printed on convex glass or bubble glass, sometimes with a scenery printed on the background, as is this case with this pair. Popular subject matter was people in period dress - in this case they appear to be wearing fanciful Edwardian style clothing. We have a young man helping a young woman across a puddle and then pumping water from the well for her. The backgrounds are colorful and pastoral. The frames were most often thin metal, and here we have candy striped frames making these set of pictures typical of the Benton Company of Benton Harbor, MIchigan. Silhouette pictures on glass are quite collectible, and would look charming in a variety of locations in your home.
CONDITION: Very good to excellent. One picture has had some damage to the hanger on the back and has a very old tape repair.
SIZE: 8 inches tall by 6 inches wide.
