A fairly early antique stereoview of River Lee, Cork, Ireland from the Kilburn Brothers, copyright 1877.
This is a B. W. Kilburn stereoscopic cards from Littleton, N. H. where the business was located. Benjamin W. Kilburn, along with his brother Edward, were photographers and at the time one of the largest producers of important stereoviews. In 1909 the company ceased operations and the negatives were sold to the Keystone View Company.
Stereoviews were once produced in large quantities, a form of 3D entertainment and a way for people to see exotic or interesting locales far from home using a stereoscopic viewer - like the stereoscope. They are two nearly identical views photographed from a single stereoscope camera with two lens.
